EINFARBIGE PALETTE
Wenn Sie durch eine nordische skandinavische Landschaft fahren, werden Sie feststellen, dass die dominierende Farbe von Hausfassaden , Zäunen, Dächern schwarz/ anthrazit ist. Nun hat sich dieser Farbtrend mittlerweile viel breiter in der Welt verbreitet , weil es eine beruhigende Kulisse für jeden Wohnraum, im Freien und dazu noch einen schönen Kontrast erzeugt. Für den Garten bedeutet dies auch, dass Blumen und Pflanzen mit all ihren Farben sich noch deutlicher hervorheben. Laut Landschaftsgärtnern und Ausstellern auf der diesjährigen Messe “Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show Jake Adamsons“ „Eine gute Möglichkeit, den minimalistischen Design-Trend in Ihrem Garten zu integrieren, ist mit einem entsprechenden Farbschema – einfarbige Farben wie Weiß , Grau und Schwarz als dominierende Farbtöne, angereichert mit vielleicht nur einem farblichen Merkmal in das Design integriert , dass damit ein zusätzliches „Pop“, Extra hinzufügt. “ (via)
Während das ein grosser Trend in urbanen und Balkon Gärten ist, kann man durch einfache klare Grenzen auf Terrassen den minimalistischen Look kreieren. Was ich persönlich an Pflanzkübel liebe, ist, dass einige als eine kleine Wand oder Raumteiler verwendet werden können. So kann zum Beispiel eine kleine Sitzecke mit Pflanzen im Garten geschaffen werden und später kann die Sitzecke oder die Pflanzenwand modular woanders einen neuen Platz gestalten.
Dieser Trend war sehr beliebt, vor allem in den städtischen Gärten. Viele Hotels und Restaurants wurden mit vertikalen Gärten als Gestaltungselement gestaltet. Ich gelungenes Beispiel habe ich hier in der Hamburger Hafen City im „coast by east“ Restaurant entdeckt. Ich muss sagen, ich empfinde diese Art der Dekoration ziemlich mitig und kräftig. Ich mag dies sehr, muss aber gestehen, dass ich es selbst bei uns noch scheue. Eines ist sicher , bevor Sie dies versuchen , konsultieren Sie bitte einen Landschaftspezialisten, um es richtig zu pflanzen, zu wässern. We are already in the end of August, officially the final month of summer. How was this summer for you? Have you enjoyed the outdoor time, your garden? For us here in northern Germany this summer was the strangest and coldest of all, it was lets say like fall with a few crazy hot days in between. Did I make the most of it? What I truly celebrated in our garden this summer was the mornings. After bringing the kids to kindergarten, before heading to the home office, I sat down with a tea and enjoyed the morning breeze and its crisp clean air. On some days I also had the luxury of soaking in the morning sun on my face.
Usually toward the end of the summer, before it says goodbye,I tend to reflect about our garden and collect ideas and inspirations of what to add, improve or maintain in the garden .
I scanned some design inspiration sources and prepared some beautiful Ideas, current garden trends for me to keep in mind for the future garden goals and for you for an inspiration:
MONOCHROME PALETE If you drive through a nordic Scandinavian landscape, you will notice that the dominating color of house facades, fences, roofs is black – anthracite. Now this color trend spreading this year much wider in the world because it gives a calming backdrop for any outdoor living space and contrast beautifully, making the with the flowers and plants colors stand out. According to landscape gardener and exhibitor at this year’s Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show Jake Adamsons „A great way to incorporate the minimalist trend into your garden design is with color schemes – monochrome colors such as white, grey and black will be the dominant shades, with perhaps only one feature color incorporated into the design to add that extra pop.“ (via)
PLANTS IN POTS While it is a huge trend in urban and balcony garden design, it adds a minimalistic look to a garden terrace by creating clean cut boundaries. what I personally love about planters is that some can be used as a small wall or separator and so for example I can create a small sitting area surrounded with planters within the garden and later move it around to create a different one.
„Plants-in-pots have also been given an evolutionary lift with the emphasis now on creating miniature landscapes to cater for small spaces and urbanized gardens.“ – sais Adamsons.
Among the pots round, bowl shaped planters remain popular. Here combining different geometrically shaped planters can add a creative but still minimalist element to the backyard or garden area.
VERTICAL GARDENS. This trend was very popular especially in urban gardens. Many hotels and restaurants have been using vertical gardens as a design element. I noticed such element here in Germany in Hamburg City at the „coast by east“ restaurant. I must say I find this to be quite a bold decorating move. I like to see it indoors, nevertheless don’t feel yet comfortable having it our garden. One thing is sure, before you try this, please consult a landscape specialist in order to plant it right and get the knowledge about watering and taking care of plants in it. Each year our garden brings me new emotional and philosophical input. What do I mean by it? One example is that we have a certain area in the garden where the soil is very clayey and loamy. I have been so fixed on the idea of growing a small lavender field on it. Each year I planned new lavender there and each new year it would not survive in this area. One day I noticed a this area is being filled with newly growing Verbena flowers. I never planted them there. The seeds from the Verbena plants in the backyard simply where carried with a wind and landed on a spot in our garden where I have been having troubles seeing anything blooming, because of its problematic soil. But nature has its powers and now my wish came true without me taking the stubborn action to influence it – we have a purple colored field, without the lavender. How cool is that? What is the philosophical lesson in it? We have wishes and we have stubborn way trying to control the way we fulfill them. We think we know the way and struggle with disappointment when things do not happen exactly the way we plan. Only nature is wiser and stronger. It fulfills our wishes but in her own way. Let go of control and trust the nature to unfold. When wishing for something specific, just say: „ I wish this or something better“ and let life find the best way for you to bring it on.
